About Us

The mission of the Burma Foundation is to provide humanitarian assistance to people of Burma, especially children and refugees, educate the public about Burma's human rights plight, and promote public interest in and the study of the cultures of Burma.

The Burma Foundation was established in 1992 and is a charitable organization exempt from federal and California income taxes as a public charity under IRC Section 501(c)(3). The Burma Foundation's federal tax identification is 94-3153803.

The Burma Foundation is governed by a volunteer five-member board of directors, four of whom also serve as the officers - President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.  

August 12th to August 26th, 2010 Director's trip

4 Directors of the Burma Foundation, accompanied by 16 year old twins Camille and Eleanor, visited the Ze-Ya-Wun-Tha Monastery / Orphanage.

3 Solar panels were delivered and installed, producing about 320 Watts. Also delivered were 2 computers, lots of school supplies, clothes, blankets, toys, etc...

A total of $9,500 was entrusted with the head monk to pay for 6 teachers' salary until February, 2012. A reserve fund of $400 was left to cover emergency medical expenses.

Camille and Eleanor taught English classes and computer skills, and spent a lot of time playing and interacting with the children and the teachers.
